Player's Guide, pp. 384-5 wrote:
The character suffers a –3 penalty to his tests that round, except for Knockdown tests. At the gamemaster’s discretion, this penalty may also be waived for defensive actions, like Avoid Blow tests.
House rule:
We choose to exercise this discretion! Defensive actions that are not penalised are as follows:
  • Avoid Blow
  • Acrobatic Defense
  • Danger Sense
  • Iron Constitution
  • Resist Taunt
  • Riposte (though the damage is still at -3)
  • Steel Thought
  • Wheeling Defense
  • Wound Balance

If you believe another action should be included on this list, please let us know and explain why, and we'll consider it.
