House rule:
Characters are assumed to be using Karma whenever they use Talents in Downtime actions (such as Forging, Research, and Item History). Karma is a renewable per-day resource, so there is no reason not to use it!

Characters who have relevant spells are also assumed to be using said spells to boost their downtime actions. For example, a Wizard who knows the First Circle spell Speed Reading is always presumed to be using it when Researching in downtime, with extra threads woven to enhance the effect.

All renewable or unlimited resources available to the character are considered in play during downtime. Appropriate non-renewable resources (such as booster potions) may be used if the player wishes, but are never assumed to be in effect.
